If you suffer a serious illness or develop a condition which becomes life altering then you will receive a tax free lump sum amount, and you decide what to do with the money.

Are you (in)vulnerable?

Christopher Reeve (Superman); Sheryl Crow (singer); Mario Lemieux (hockey player); Diahann Caroll (actress); Michael J. Fox (actor); Lou Gehrig (baseball player); Jaclyn Smith (actress) -  never thought they were vulnerable. Guess what? They were!

What are the odds of you suffering a life changing health event?

As we mentioned on our log-in page - Do you know anyone who has suffered from a heart attack, stroke or cancer?  If you do, then you can work out the odds. If you do not, then you are one of the very few. It does happen, and it does happen from early age to later in life.

Do you really need the extra money?

We suggest you speak with anyone of those who have had a life changing health event. Ask them if some extra money would have made a difference in how they were able to look after themselves or look after some unexpected financial obligations.

How does a medical situation impact a family, such as a spouse or children, if they really want to be at home at this stressful time?  What about themselves, are they worrying about paying unforeseen costs or even covering current bills?

What does it cover?

Most plans have standard conditions and cover 18 -22 conditions, (31 for children), and a benefit is generally paid if the insured survives 30 days. There is also a benefit amount paid for some early intervention for health procedures.

Is this for children?

This is not for the children, but for the parents who want to be with their children and not spend time at work. Your employer, who will be sympathetic to your situation, will not be happy if you have to take six months off work. Will your employer continue to pay you while you are where you want to be?

Is this for women?

Women are the most exposed as they suffer more chronic disabilities – are more likely to be living alone-often left in financial need due to divorce- are most likely to be single parents and the caregivers to parents, spouses and children.

Is this for men?

Definitely, for all the reasons above, however a lot of men think they are Superman (Christopher Reeve). Remember him?

Are all contracts the same?

The majority of contracts are similar with some minor differences and there are also some additional benefits which can be chosen.

What does this all cost?
